Order of Worship - Scripture Reading
November 05, 2004 | Comments: 3For the Hoodland Chapel Order of Worship, upon completion of the Scripture Reading, you direct to speak with a prescribed declaration “…or another, non-Barthian declaration.” What would be an example of a Barthian declaration, something like “May what you just heard become for you the Word of God”?

or the standard Barthian line, “Listen for the Word of God.” Barth had a high view of the preaching of the word. We can take anything good, but God, a little too far. nathan.

I’m sorry for my obtuseness, but I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “We can take anything good, but God, a little too far” in the context of Barthian declarations…
Maybe I just need another double-espresso.

or perhaps you need to remember you are interacting with a stroke victim who has brain damage! What I think I am trying to say in that comment is that Barth’s high view of the preaching moment moved him to adopt a lower view of the written word. (not my unique assessment of Barth, but one held by reformed men, at least in informal banter.) nathan.
